Principal Surveyor

Euan D.Davidson

C.Eng., F.I.MarEST., F.C.M.S.

Marcon has been offering an independent surveying and consultancy service covering all aspects of the marine industry for 30 years, since the initial formation of the company by our Principal Surveyor in 1979. We are pleased to announce that more recently we were taken over by Braid Logistics (UK) Limited. Our consultancy activities will continue to be offered under the long established trading name of  Marcon Marine Consultants, and are now being integrated into the existing range of ancillary services already offered by the Braid group of companies.

Our Principal Surveyor, Euan Davidson, is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology (IMarEST), Fellow and Past President of the Society of Consulting Marine Engineers & Ship Surveyors (SCMS).

Euan followed a sea-going career as a marine engineer, rising to Chief Engineer, and serving on a wide variety of vessels from mini-bulkers to Passenger ships, with additional extensive experience on refrigerated vessels, product tankers, and chemical tankers, before transferring ashore to take up a position as a Superintendent Engineer responsible for the operation and maintenance of a group of VLCC's.

Since setting up in practice as an independent surveyor he has attended an extensive number and scope of dry-docking and repair periods, including major hull or machinery damages, or modifications and retrofit installations, on all ship types, and has also completed an extensive number of Condition Inspections.

For sail/motorboat surveys he has attended an Osmosis Training Course and an additional Osmosis Treatment course, and has undertaken an extensive number of sale/purchase, damage, or insurance surveys since commencing leisure craft surveys in 1984.
